I have been binging on Drop Dead Diva on Netflix. I'm not proud of it, but I though the premise was good in the beginning and of course I fell in love with one of the side characters and demand to see him live happily ever after.
When my husband started to hear the theme song repeatedly during my binge, he started to make fun of me. He and I had similar thoughts. I think this is show is as dumb as The Love-Matic Grandpa and he calls it Ally McGhost. But some time around season three, I began to let real life start to ruin my enjoyment.
No, no, I was on board with the soul of one entering another for another chance for true love. I just don't buy the portrayal of our legal system. My time inside a court room has been two instances of jury duty where I was sent home as there were no cases(so grateful). As a bonus, I also have had participation in a class action law suit that has been going on for almost two years and it still in the attempting to speed up the arbitration process so we can hurry up to a settlement. In both cases, I did not see evidence presented, witnesses called, or a even rise for a judge. But I really know all of the antics of emotional closing arguments, whispering case tactics loud enough for the other side to hear, and the jury nodding emphatically is just crap.
At times I wonder if real lawyers see the newest shows coming out and get really pissed when they see trials go so quickly and the court room portrayed with such disregard for reality. Sort of like how Dr. Drew hated the TV show House. I know reality is boring, but I feel that with such gritty shows on lately, why do I waste my time? Especially since I was so impatient to get to the end, I just read the rest on Wikipedia. Now I have to see my guy live happily ever after. Even if it takes some dumb steps to get there. I promise I will rinse my mouth out with quality for my next binge. Battlestar Galactica is bound to have some realistic portrayals of the law, right?
