Not a huge fan, but one song remains part of me. I think this might be a good karaoke selection. (Yes, generationally speaking, I'm more familiar with Jerry O'Connell singing it in Scream 2.)
So there are plans to do a Cobra Kai TV series. They will be bringing back William Zakba and Ralph Macchio. One one hand, I do not like that we must dig up old properties and character to get things made. I realize many amazing stories come from remakes, sequels, ect., but I grow concerned for our ability to create.
Reunited and I feel fine.
On the other hand, I do love me some Billy Zakba. I have decided that I will be happy about this. Don't get me wrong, this will come and go and I won't notice. But for now, I accept.
This may have been my worst year yet. And of course I see Kansas and Hawaii days after the game is over. Final list of unseen plates: 1. Delaware (you sly minx) 2. Hawaii 3. Kansas 4. Rhode Island (the new Delaware) 5. Vermont (ummm.....cheese)
I may have said this before, but I love talking about movies more than I love movies. I would say it's become a problem, but honestly, that's a lie. I will say that it creates interesting thoughts.
For example, two movies my husband and I saw in the theater together in the very early stages of our relationship are Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton style) and The Score. Both not good movies in their own special way, but The Score is infinitely better. I made the casual comment that The Score is better just based on the actors in each movie. Clearly more Oscar wins. Pause. But what about nominations?
It was on (but not for very long). I started making rules of which people to include in the count and should it be for acting only(no)? I didn't want to discount the power of Paul Giamatti and Michael Clarke Duncan (RIP). In doing so I underestimated Marlon Brando and Robert DeNiro. The count ended: Planet of the Apes Mark Wahlberg 0 wins, 2 nominations Tim Roth 0 wins, 1 nomination Helena Bonham Carter 0 wins, 2 nominations Paul Giamtti 0 wins, 1 nomination Michael Clark Duncan 0 wins, 1 nomination Kris Kristofferson 0 wins, 1 nomination Charlton Heston 2 wins, 2 nominations Total 2 wins, 10 nominations
The Score Robert DeNiro 2 wins, 7 nominations Marlon Brando 2 wins, 8 nominations Edward Norton 0 wins, 3 nominations Angela Bassett 0 wins, 1 nominations Total 4 wins, 19 nominations
That would have been a cool conversation if I hadn't ignored my my husband to research the numbers. Sorry honey.
I am very susceptible to a pop culture references. The way my brain overloads with lines from movies, TV, songs is a problem at times. Sadly, one small reminder in my shower is becoming a daily annoyance for me.
And it's not even the pun!
When I see this, I immediately get the song Good by Better than Erza. Tangent: Do you know when you query "Good" in YouTube, you have no chance in hell of finding this. You Google "Good Song" you get Good Song by Blur. Then you get "Good" song by Better than Erza. Thank you Google. Second Tangent: It took me years to figure out what this song is when I first heard in TV commercials for The Baby-Sitter's Club movie. And it ended up being in the movie Dirty Work. An internet search helped me find it back in the end of the 90's and I've loved this song ever since. You try searching for a long when all you can make out of the lyrics is "Aha. Isbeguuudlinmeya ahow!" Now that love slowing sinks away when it is in my head and I have to track back why it happened. You suck body wash. I'm going back to Target generic Aveeno.
I think I am totally killing it this year. Mainly because I've decided to just see what I want and in some cases, see it even if I don't want to. Looking back on these: Holy hell, it's been a long ass 2017 so far.
1. La La Land 1/14/17 2. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter 2/28/17 3. Lego Batman Movie 2/20/17 4. Get Out 3/18/17 5. Logan 3/26/17 6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 5/20/17 7. Wonder Woman 6/9/17 8. The Mummy 6/22/17 I wonder if I need to modify this and try to get more movies that are not based on comic books. I do want to see Spiderman and Thor. And I will need a good pallet cleanser like Baby Driver. Either way, I don't want to let these spoiler episodes of podcasts linger forever. Damn, I still need to watch Saving Private Ryan. At least it's not a comic book movie (I hope).
My husband is excited for the Twin Peaks revival. I remember enjoying binging the original series about fifteen years ago. I remember very little besides possessed Dale Cooper laughing maniacally into a mirror. And Billy Zane. He (husband, not Billy Zane) wanted me to catch up with the made for TV movie and then the four or so episode of the new season. It did not go well. I have very specific memories of almost renting Fire Walk With Me and then changing my mind last minute. I wonder how much of mistake it was to wait so long. The series is long gone from my memory. Watching Laura Palmer alive did not stir nostalgia. I was mainly bored for the two plus hours. I understand that David Lynch is a visionary. But lately, I don't have time for the hours of internet research so I can understand his brilliance. I stubbornly stay here, dig my heals as the pleb Lynch fans probably assume that I am and say "Well sir, I don't like it." I will give the new episodes a chance. Eventually. When I have more time to be okay with being bored.
